Weets Hill

Standing at 556 metres, this Lancashire fell offers proper countryside views without the crowds you'll find on the more famous peaks nearby. The walk up from Clitheroe takes about 90 minutes through rolling farmland and moorland, with a gentle gradient that won't leave you gasping. On a clear day, the view from the summit stretches across the Ribble Valley to Pendle Hill and beyond.

Families with older children will manage this one easily enough - it's not technically challenging but does require decent walking boots and waterproofs. The path can get boggy after rain, particularly in the lower sections near the farms. Dog walkers love it here, though keep leads handy around the sheep.
