About High Tove
Allow two to three hours return from the car park near Castlerigg. It's a moderate walk, nothing technical, though the path gets boggy in places after rain. Families with older kids will manage fine; younger ones might find the moorland stretch a bit dull before the views kick in. Walkers doing the Lakeland peaks circuit will already be here. History types won't find much except the circle itself on the approach.
There's no admission fee and no facilities at the top, so bring water and something to eat. Best visited when weather's decent - too many days up here and you're just walking in cloud. If you're camping at Castlerigg Hall or Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club, it's an easy morning or afternoon outing that doesn't require a full day's commitment. Pairs well with a walk round Catbells or a morning at the stone circle itself. Not the most famous Lakeland fell, but worth doing if you're in the area.
