GreenWood Family Park

Just outside Caernarfon, GreenWood Family Park is a proper Welsh theme park that punches above its weight for a rainy afternoon or a half-day break from caravan life. You've got log flumes, go-karts, a maze, and the usual spinning rides - nothing that'll make your heart stop, but enough to keep kids aged five to thirteen genuinely entertained for three or four hours. The place has a distinctly homemade charm about it, which is either endearing or slightly tired depending on your mood and how much you've already spent that week.

Timing matters here. School holidays will be heaving; a quiet Wednesday in shoulder season is far more pleasant. Most families do the park in an afternoon alongside a walk round Caernarfon Castle or a café stop, rather than making it a full-day mission. Entry isn't free - you'll want to check current prices before you arrive - but there's usually some kind of family deal on offer.

If you're based at any of the caravan parks within a few miles - Plas Coch and Rhyd Y Galen are closest - it's a decent rainy-day option when the Snowdonia walks are off. Harder to justify a special trip from further afield unless you've got younger kids who still believe theme parks are genuinely thrilling. Families with teenagers or adults seeking proper adventure will want to skip it and head to Zip World or up into the hills instead.
