Sts David, Teilo and Padarn, Llantrisant

The three-aisled church in Llantrisant, just outside Aberystwyth, is one of those places you stumble upon rather than plan for - and that's rather the point. It's dedicated to three Welsh saints: David, Teilo and Padarn, which tells you something about its age and importance in the medieval church hierarchy. The building itself is largely 15th century, though the bones go back further, and inside you'll find the usual accumulation of local memorials, a few decent windows, and that particular smell of old stone and floor polish that seems universal to Welsh churches.

Unlike some bigger attractions, this isn't a stop that demands hours of your time. Thirty minutes to have a proper look around is plenty. What matters is the walk to get there - the church sits in a small valley with genuine countryside views, which makes the detour worthwhile if you're hiking in the area rather than just passing through. The setting is the main draw, frankly.

Family groups with young kids might find it a bit dull unless they're interested in graveyards or old stones. Walking-focused holidays work better - it sits well within reach of the Cardigan Bay coastal path and makes a decent inland alternative if the weather turns nasty. If you're based at one of the local campsites like Brynllwyd Glamping or Aber Camping, it's an undemanding morning's leg-stretcher rather than a destination in itself. Free entry, no facilities on-site, no set opening hours that I'm aware of - check locally before you go.
