Glyn Arthur Round Cairn and Stone Circle

Scattered stones mark what was once a proper Bronze Age burial site, though time and farming have taken their toll on this ancient monument. The cairn itself is barely recognisable now - more of a grassy mound with a few weathered rocks poking through - while the stone circle has lost several of its original members over the centuries.

History buffs will appreciate the significance even if the visual impact is modest. This is one of Anglesey's lesser-known prehistoric sites, dating back roughly 4,000 years when our ancestors were burying their dead with considerable ceremony. The setting is peaceful enough, with views across to the Menai Strait and Snowdonia beyond.

Families might find it a bit underwhelming unless the kids are particularly keen on archaeology. There's no visitor centre or interpretation boards, so you'll need to bring your own knowledge or do some reading beforehand. It's essentially a brief stop rather than a destination - allow 20 minutes at most.

The site sits well with a stay at one of the nearby holiday parks like Snowdon View or Plas Gwyn, particularly if you're exploring other Anglesey attractions. Combine it with a trip to Caernarfon Castle or Beaumaris for a proper day out, rather than making a special journey just for this. Free to visit, accessible year-round, though the grass can get quite long in summer.
