Driving out from town, you'll hit proper Staffordshire countryside within minutes. Sidford Wood offers decent woodland walks, and Riverbank Alpacas provides an entertaining diversion for families. The River Churnet Garden makes for a lovely afternoon potter among native plantings.

Alton Towers sits barely 15 minutes northeast, making this area a clever base for theme park visits without the inflated accommodation prices. The Peak District's southern edge beckons too - Ashbourne's just a short drive through rolling farmland.

Getting here's straightforward enough. The A50 whisks you from the M6 in about ten minutes, while the railway station connects to Birmingham and Derby. Several holiday parks dot the area, from the Walled Garden Pods for those wanting something different to traditional touring sites like Lower Micklin. Staying nearby gives you that proper countryside feel while keeping attractions within easy reach - much better than fighting for parking at Alton Towers every morning.
