Stubbs Wood

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured country attraction, Stubbs Wood sits just outside Warwick and delivers exactly what you'd hope for - tall oaks, winding paths, and the kind of quiet that makes you remember why you came to the countryside in the first place. It's not dramatic. There are no viewpoints or visitor facilities to speak of. What you get instead is a chance to stretch your legs through genuine native forest, spot the occasional deer, and listen to something other than traffic.

This is a walker's wood, straightforward. Families with small children will manage the easier perimeter routes fine, but there's nothing to keep them entertained beyond the walk itself - no playground, no café, no playground animals. Bring a packed lunch if you fancy sitting on a log and eating sandwiches. The wood rewards you for showing up on a clear morning when the light filters through the canopy properly.

Given it's barely four miles from Warwick town centre and within easy reach of Green Gates Caravan and Motorhome Site and The Apple Farm Glamping, it works well as a morning outing if you're camping locally. Allow an hour for a decent loop, longer if you dawdle. Free to access, naturally - there's no gate or charge point, just a car park and an entrance that looks like it's been there since 1987.
