St Laurence Church

The churchyard sits quiet on the edge of Petworth, a proper medieval space that catches you off guard if you're not expecting it. St Laurence Church itself is substantial - a flint and stone building that speaks to centuries of Sussex life passing through these doors. Graffham Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Woodfire at Westerlands, and Wakestone & Wild Glamping are all close enough for an easy drive or walk into Petworth proper. The church works well as part of a broader exploration of the town rather than a standalone trip. Allow thirty minutes if you're genuinely interested in the architecture and memorials, or just fifteen if you're passing through. Winter mornings are best - fewer visitors, better light through the windows.
