Spy House Point Lighthouse

The lighthouse perched on Spy House Point isn't a grand Victorian tower you can toddle round - it's a working navigational marker that's been guiding boats into Looe Bay since the 1800s. From the clifftop here, you get proper 360-degree views across the water, and on a clear day you can make out the fishing boats coming and going from Looe itself, which sits just down the coast.

This is really a walk's destination rather than a destination in itself. There's no visitor centre, no gift shop, no cafe. What you do get is about twenty minutes of decent coastal scrambling, a chance to stand where generations of lighthouse keepers have stood, and some genuinely cracking views back towards Polperro. The rocks underfoot can be slippery - go when the weather's settled.

Walkers will get the most from this. Kids might enjoy the adventure of reaching it, though there's nothing interactive once you arrive. History buffs will appreciate the spot's significance in keeping Looe's fishing fleet safe, but you'll want to pair it with a trip into town itself to get the full picture.

Free to visit, and worth an hour if you're based at Tencreek Holiday Park nearby - it's a short drive from there. Best tackled as part of a wider coastal walk rather than as a standalone trip. Go early morning if you want decent light for photographs.
