Polperro's model village is a quirky affair tucked into the cliffs above one of Cornwall's loveliest fishing villages. You're looking at an intricate miniature recreation of the village itself - all those narrow streets and whitewashed cottages rendered in painstaking detail. It's oddly absorbing, the kind of place where you'll lose twenty minutes spotting tiny people in windows and tracing the layout of lanes you've just walked through.

The Land of Legend section adds a bit of myth and folklore to the mix, though it's nowhere near as elaborate as some of the bigger attractions around this stretch of coast. Kids under ten tend to enjoy it more than teenagers, and it works as a decent rainy-day option if the weather turns - which it will, this being Cornwall.

Allow an hour maximum unless you're genuinely fascinated by miniatures. Families staying at Killigarth Manor or Tencreek will find it five minutes' walk away, making it useful for a quick morning outing before heading down to the actual village for lunch. The real Polperro, with its working harbour and proper cream teas, is the main draw - the model village is the warm-up act.

Worth a look if you're already in Polperro, but don't make it the reason to visit. The village itself, the coastal walks, and the fish restaurants are what'll stick with you.
