About Seven Hire
Walkers get the most from it, frankly. The approach isn't signposted in the usual way, and there's a proper scramble involved if you want to reach the highest points - nothing technical, but enough to make kids feel like they're on an adventure rather than trudging around something heritage-listed. The views across the bay and back towards Snowdonia justify the effort.
It works well as a detour if you're based at one of the nearby parks - Tal-y-Fan is less than a mile away, and Gimblet Rock another four miles or so. Most people allow an hour to clamber about and take in the landscape. There's no visitor infrastructure, no cafe, no gift shop, which is either brilliant or disappointing depending on what you came for. If you want raw Welsh coastal landscape without the crowds, it's well worth finding. If you need facilities and interpretive panels, look elsewhere.
