Polperro Harbour

The harbour at Polperro is exactly the sort of place that makes you understand why people move to Cornwall and never leave. Narrow streets tumble down to a working fishing village where the boats still matter more than the Instagram angle, though the light here is genuinely spectacular in late afternoon. The coastal path stretches either side of the harbour, brilliant for stretching your legs if you're based at one of the nearby parks like Killigarth Manor or Tencreek.

Historically minded folk will appreciate the 18th-century smuggling heritage, though it's more felt than explained with plaques. Families with young kids get a solid hour here before restlessness sets in. It's working distance from Looe if you want somewhere slightly less polished, but honestly, if you're staying anywhere in the area and you don't spend an evening at Polperro Harbour, you've missed what makes this corner of Cornwall tick.
