Oxenhope Stoop Hill

The walk up Oxenhope Stoop Hill from Hebden Bridge rewards you with proper moorland views across the Pennines - nothing flashy, just honest fell walking at a sensible altitude. You're looking at around 400 metres of elevation, which means it's steep enough to feel like a proper walk but won't leave you completely knackered. It's a walker's hill rather than a sightseer's destination - there's no car park at the summit, no gift shop, no reason to visit if you're after an easy stroll and a coffee. Families with proper legs will manage it fine; younger kids might struggle with the gradient and lack of entertainment at the top. But if you're camped at one of the nearby sites like Upwood Holiday Park or Trawden Forest Glamping, it's a cracking two-hour round trip.

Go on a clear day when you can actually see something. The mist rolls in fast up here and suddenly you're just trudging through grey nothing. Hebden Bridge itself sits at the foot, so you can combine this with exploring that proper little market town - the cafes, the bookshops, the weaving history. The wider area around Bronte Country Park has plenty of other walks if one hill isn't quite enough.
