Standing just over 400 metres above sea level, this modest Anglesey peak offers surprisingly rewarding views across the Menai Strait towards Snowdonia's bigger brothers. The walk up takes about 45 minutes from the nearest parking spot, following a well-trodden but occasionally boggy path through heather and gorse.

Families with older children will find it manageable - it's not technically challenging, though proper walking boots are essential given the often damp ground. The summit itself is marked by a small cairn and provides a proper sense of achievement without the crowds you'd find on Snowdon.

On a clear day, you can pick out Caernarfon Castle glinting in the distance and the full sweep of the Snowdonia range. It's particularly lovely in late afternoon when the light catches the water below. Allow two to three hours for the round trip, including time to appreciate the views.

This makes a decent alternative for those staying at nearby parks like Snowdon View Holiday Park or Llanberis Touring Park when the bigger peaks are shrouded in cloud. It's also a good warm-up walk before tackling something more ambitious. The proximity to Bangor means you can easily combine it with a trip into town for supplies or a pub lunch afterwards.
