Mill Dam

The water at Mill Dam sits flat and still most days, ringed by trees that lean down to catch their own reflections. It's a proper little reservoir just outside Newtownards, the sort of place locals walk past without much fuss but visitors often stumble upon and think they've found something special. You can do a circuit around it - takes about forty minutes at a gentle pace - or simply park up and watch the ducks for as long as you fancy.

Families with small children do well here because there's a defined path, no steep drops, and enough novelty in spotting waterfowl to keep them engaged for a bit.
