Glass Law

Standing 313 metres above the Fife countryside, Glass Law delivers sweeping views across the Howe of Fife without the crowds you'd find on the Lomond Hills. I climbed this modest peak on a crisp October morning and had the summit entirely to myself for the best part of an hour.

Walkers looking for a proper hill without the major expedition will find this spot just right. The ascent from Cupar takes about 45 minutes through farmland and heather, nothing too taxing but enough to earn those panoramic views. On clear days you can see right across to the Pentland Hills and beyond.

Families with older children who fancy a proper walk rather than a gentle stroll will get good value here. The youngest members might grumble about the final steep section, but the views from the top usually silence complaints. Allow two to three hours for the round trip, including time to actually enjoy what you've climbed for.

Location-wise, Glass Law works well with a stay at one of the nearby holiday parks around Cupar. Letham Feus Lodge sits just over two miles away, while Annsmuir Parkhome makes a decent base at three miles out. After a morning on the hill, the beaches at Leven are close enough for an afternoon by the sea.
