Cupar sits in the heart of Fife's farming country, a working town that never forgot its agricultural roots despite being home to courthouses and council offices for generations.

Norman's Law dominates the southern skyline - a proper hill walk that rewards with views across the Howe of Fife to the Lomond Hills beyond. The climb's steep but well worth the effort on a clear day. Battle of Black Earnside Memorial marks where medieval armies clashed, though these days the only drama comes from local football matches.

Fife's rolling countryside spreads out like a green patchwork quilt. Murdochcairnie Hill and Green Hill offer gentler rambles for families, while keen walkers can bag several Fife peaks in a single day - Colluthie Hill, Lindores Hill and Glenduckie Hill all lie within easy reach. Witches Loch provides a different sort of walk, its dark waters steeped in local folklore.

Getting here couldn't be simpler - Cupar railway station connects directly to Edinburgh and the main A91 cuts right through town. St Andrews lies fifteen minutes east, making this an excellent base for exploring both the ancient university town and Fife's gentler inland pleasures.

Staying at one of the nearby parks makes perfect sense. You're close enough to nip into town for supplies or a proper pub lunch, yet surrounded by some of Fife's finest walking country. The hills here don't get the crowds of the Highlands, but they offer something just as valuable - peace, proper views, and the satisfaction of having discovered somewhere most tourists miss entirely.
