Skelpie Law

Standing at 225 metres above the surrounding Fife countryside, this modest hill delivers surprisingly big views for such a gentle climb. The summit of Skelpie Law takes about 45 minutes to reach from the nearest parking spots, making it a proper little adventure without requiring serious hiking kit or fitness levels.

Families with older children will find this walk manageable, though toddlers might struggle with the final rocky sections. The reward at the top is worth the effort - panoramic views stretch across the Howe of Fife towards the Lomond Hills, with glimpses of the Forth bridges on clear days. It's the sort of hill that locals know well but tourists often miss.

Best tackled in decent weather when visibility allows you to appreciate the full sweep of the landscape. Allow two hours for a leisurely round trip, including time to enjoy the views and perhaps a flask of tea at the summit. The path can be muddy after rain, so proper walking boots are sensible.

From Cupar it's easily accessible, making it a good leg-stretcher if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Wigwam Holidays Montrave Estate or Letham Feus Lodge.
