Duffus Park

The woodland at Duffus Park, just outside Cupar, is one of those places that rewards a proper wander rather than a quick tick-off. You're walking through mature trees with decent paths underfoot, the kind of spot where the air feels different from the fields around it. The reserve itself is straightforward - woodland trails, open glades, the occasional glimpse of what makes Fife's natural spaces worth seeking out. Birdwatchers will find it interesting enough, and if you've got kids who can manage a decent hike without complaining every five minutes, it's a solid way to burn off energy.

The nearest town is Cupar, which means you're in easy reach of Fife's broader attractions without being stuck in anything touristy. If you're based at one of the caravan parks dotted around the area - The Rings is closest at just over 3 miles - it's the kind of free jaunt you'd do on a quieter afternoon. Don't expect dramatic views or rare species that'll make your trip, but it's honest woodland walking. Bring decent boots if it's been wet; the paths can get a bit boggy. Allow an hour or two depending on which route you take. Early morning or late afternoon gives you better light through the trees and fewer people.
