Devil's Bridge Waterfalls

Three waterfalls cascade down a rocky gorge near Aberystwyth, and the walk to reach them is genuinely worth your time. Devil's Bridge isn't some manicured tourist trap - it's a proper Welsh valley with moss-covered stones, the sound of water echoing off slate walls, and the kind of air that feels clean because it actually is.

The falls themselves drop in stages through a narrow ravine. The trail down takes maybe twenty minutes on foot, and it's steep enough to feel like an adventure without being genuinely difficult. There's a stone bridge at the top (hence the name), and from certain angles you can see all three waterfalls stacked vertically - that's the photo everyone chases, and fair enough, it's a good one.

Walkers will absolutely love this. History types get a kick from the bridge itself, which has been here since the 1700s. Kids find the scramble down exciting, though younger ones might need a hand on the slippy bits after rain. You can easily spend an hour here without feeling rushed, maybe longer if you're the sort who sits and just listens.

Access is free and there's no formal visitor centre, just a car park. Summer weekends get busy with families from Aberystwyth, but midweek it's properly quiet. If you're staying at Woodlands or Brynllwyd, you're basically on the doorstep - less than half a mile away. Works brilliantly as a half-day trip between other coastal activities or as part of a valley walk loop.
