Cupar Golf Club

An 18-hole course on the outskirts of Cupar that's been going since 1855 - proper old-school Scottish golf. The layout sits on gently rolling terrain with decent views across Fife, and it's the kind of place where you'll see locals who actually know the greens rather than tourist foursomes clogging up the fairways.

If you golf, it's worth a round. The course is fairly forgiving for mid-handicappers but has enough character to keep it interesting - some good par 4s, a couple of tricky par 3s. The condition varies with the season, but it's well-maintained enough. Green fees aren't astronomical, though you'll want to check their website for current rates and whether you need to be a member or have a handicap certificate.

For non-golfers staying at The Rings or Clayton Caravan Park nearby, there's not much reason to visit unless you're fetching someone from the clubhouse. It's a working golf club, not a visitor attraction with a tearoom or anything fancy.

Allow two and a half to three hours for a full round if you're not rushed. Best to book ahead, especially weekends. Cupar itself is compact and unremarkable - the real attraction is using this as a base for exploring the broader Fife coastline and St Andrews, which is only twenty minutes away. If you're staying at one of the holiday parks in the area, this works as a pleasant morning activity before heading elsewhere.
