Crommelin Park

Crommelin Park sits just outside Newtownards, a nature reserve that doesn't shout about itself but rewards anyone who bothers to find it. You're walking through native trees, spotting whatever wildlife hasn't been scared off by the season, and it's genuinely quiet in a way that suburban nature reserves often aren't.

The main draw is the network of trails threading through the woodland. They're not strenuous - this isn't fellwalking - but they're absorbing enough that you'll lose an hour easily, maybe two if you're the sort who stops to identify plants. Families with younger kids will find it manageable, though the paths can be muddy after rain, so proper footwear matters. Birdwatchers come here with binoculars and actually see things.
