Cefn-Erglodd

The walk up Cefn-Erglodd from Borth rewards you with proper views across Cardigan Bay and inland towards the Cambrian Mountains. It's not a dramatic peak - nothing like Snowdon - but the scramble up takes maybe forty minutes from the village and gives you a genuine sense of having earned the vista. On a clear day you can see right across the bay; murky days are a bit of a waste, to be honest.

This is walker territory rather than a casual stroll. Families with older children will manage fine, but little ones might find the loose ground tricky, and there's nothing at the top except the view and the wind. The peak itself is moorland and rough grass, the sort of place you'd go specifically for the climb rather than expecting facilities or interpretive boards.

You won't need to book or pay anything - it's open country - but allow a couple of hours if you're not a regular hillwalker. Best tackled in decent weather; autumn and spring tend to be clearer than summer when the sea can disappear into haze. Winter's fine if you've got the kit.

Stay at Cambrian Coast Holiday Park just 3.4 miles away and you've got Cefn-Erglodd plus Borth's beach and the wider Ceredigion coastal paths on your doorstep. It's a solid base for rambling rather than a honey-pot attraction. Worth the detour only if you're already in the area and fancy a proper walk.
