About Castle Hill
What makes it work is the walk itself rather than any grand revelation at the top. Families with reasonably fit kids will manage it fine, though the path gets a bit boggy in places after rain. The views across to Radnor Forest and towards the Brecon Beacons are genuinely excellent, especially if you time it for late afternoon when the light gets proper golden. On a clear day you can see for twenty miles.
It's free to walk, naturally. Allow two hours there and back if you're not charging up like you're training for fell races. The town itself is a tidy Victorian spa town, bit quiet these days but perfectly functional for supplies or a post-walk pint.
If you're staying at either Disserth Caravan & Camping Park or Fforest Fields nearby, this is your obvious half-day walk. Not a destination in itself, but a solid morning or early afternoon out that justifies the drive to Mid Wales.
