Strawberry Footpath

The Strawberry Footpath is a proper hidden gem tucked into the countryside between Llandrindod Wells and the wider Powys landscape. It's essentially a rural walking route that follows an old droving track - the sort of path where you half expect to stumble upon something from a century ago wedged between the rocks. The walk itself is straightforward enough, and you get proper views across Mid Wales as you go, the kind that remind you why people bother coming out here in the first place. It's not a dramatic climb or anything requiring serious kit - more of a gentle ramble through farmland with some pleasant woodland sections. You'll spot wildflowers depending on the season, and if you're lucky, a bit of local wildlife.

Walkers will get the most from this one, particularly those who like a bit of history woven into their routes. The droving heritage adds texture to what might otherwise be just another country walk. It's free to access, and you can do it in an afternoon without breaking a sweat - allow a couple of hours unless you're the type who stops to photograph everything. The closest base is Llandrindod Wells, which has shops and cafes if you need to recover afterwards. If you're staying at Disserth Caravan & Camping Park just down the road, this makes a solid morning or afternoon excursion. It won't wow people expecting dramatic peaks, but for those after a quiet, genuine Mid Wales experience without the crowds, it's well worth the drive out. Bring proper walking shoes though - it can get muddy.
