St Martin's Church sits on the edge of Driffield, a solid medieval structure that rewards a quiet morning visit more than it deserves a special detour. The building itself is straightforward - stone walls, pointed windows, the sort of thing you'll see dotted across Yorkshire if you know where to look. What matters here is the peace. There's something about stepping into an empty country church on a weekday that makes the noise of the world drop away properly.

History types will find enough to occupy them for twenty minutes or so. The church has been here since medieval times, and you can read the layers in the stonework and glass if you're that way inclined. Families with young children will get bored fast unless they're already the sort to enjoy church architecture - it's not a playground, and there's nothing interactive about it.
