You'll find St Mark's tucked away in the Parish of Gwastedyn, just outside Llandrindod Wells in Powys - the sort of place you'd stumble upon whilst wandering the quieter lanes of Mid Wales rather than deliberately hunt out. It's a proper village church, the kind that rewards a short detour if you're passing through the area or staying at one of the nearby caravan parks. The church itself speaks to centuries of rural Welsh life, with the modest architecture and churchyard that tells its own slow story.

This isn't a grand ecclesiastical experience. You won't spend hours here, nor should you expect to. What you get instead is a genuine sense of how communities worshipped and lived in this corner of Powys - no layers of tourist infrastructure, no gift shop. It works well if you're the sort who enjoys church architecture and local history, or if you want to break up a caravan park stay with a proper walk through the surrounding countryside.

If you're based at The Pines Caravan Park or Elan Oaks just down the road, this is an easy add-on to a morning's rambling. The Llandrindod Wells area has plenty of similar small churches and woodland walks if you're making a weekend of it. Allow an hour including the walk there, longer if you're genuinely interested in the building's history. Best visited when you've got time to meander - there's no rush here, and that's entirely the point.
