St. Bartholomew's Church

The chancel and nave work well together, and there's enough detail in the stonework and fixtures to keep architecture types occupied. It's not a showpiece - there's no café, no visitor centre, no staged history. It's just a working church that happens to be genuinely interesting.

This is best for anyone who actually enjoys church architecture rather than ticking off tourist spots. History buffs will appreciate the medieval bones. Walkers doing a circuit around Godalming can easily call in. Families with restless kids might find it a bit static after ten minutes, unless they're the type who like searching for carved details and old gravestones.

From any of the nearby parks - Gatwick Caravan and Motorhome Club is closest at just over two miles, or Little Cowdray Farm Glamping if you want something cosier - it's a straightforward drive into town. Allow half an hour, maybe longer if you're really into examining medieval stonework. Worth the detour if you're in the area, not worth planning a trip around.
