Sotshole Coppice

Sotshole Coppice is a proper working woodland just outside Warwick - the sort of place locals know about but most visitors miss entirely. It's ancient woodland, mixed with oak, birch and hazel, the ground thick with bluebells in spring if you time it right. There are footpaths threading through, nothing formal or manicured, which is exactly the point.

This is walker territory, really. Dog owners too - the paths are well-used and straightforward enough, though muddy after rain. You're looking at a quiet hour or so wandering through, maybe spotting birds or just breathing properly away from the main attractions near Warwick. Not a spectacle, not Instagram fodder - just a wood that's been coppiced and managed for centuries, doing what it's supposed to do.

Families with younger kids might find it a bit dull after twenty minutes unless they're the type to build dens or hunt for woodland creatures. Older children who actually enjoy walks will get more from it. There's no visitor centre, no facilities that I'm aware of, so come prepared with what you need.

It slots well into a caravan holiday based at one of the nearby parks - Monks' Barn Farm or Kirby Farm are within four miles. You'd combine it with Warwick itself, the castle and town, rather than making it a destination on its own. Free access, no charge, no time limit. Go early on a weekday if you want it quieter, avoid weekends in summer when the caravan parks are full.
