Rolling up the drive to this Tudor mansion feels like stepping onto a film set - which, frankly, it often is. The red-brick house sits in landscaped parkland that has barely changed since Capability Brown worked his magic here in the 18th century. You'll recognise the deer park from countless period dramas, though the real draw is the house itself with its Great Hall and Victorian kitchens that bring the upstairs-downstairs world to life.

Families with older children will get the most from a visit here. The house tells stories well, but younger kids might find themselves restless after an hour or so wandering through furnished rooms. History enthusiasts, however, could easily spend half a day exploring both house and grounds. The Shakespeare connection adds an extra layer - locals insist the Bard was caught poaching deer here, though that's probably more legend than fact.

From holiday parks around Warwick, it's an easy drive through proper Warwickshire countryside. Twitey's Camping and Glamping Meadows sits less than a mile away, making it a convenient base. The Apple Farm Glamping is a bit further but offers a more secluded feel. Plan for at least three hours if you want to see both house and grounds properly, and check opening times before setting off - National Trust properties can be surprisingly particular about their schedules.
