Skypark of Carlingford

The Skypark of Carlingford is a rope course adventure park perched above the medieval town, offering ziplines, suspended walkways, and climbing challenges among the trees. It's the sort of place that gets adrenaline junkies genuinely excited - there's genuine height involved, proper obstacles, and enough variety to keep you occupied for two to three hours without feeling rushed.

Families with kids aged eight and up will find plenty to do here, though younger children might struggle with some of the higher elements. The park caters well to groups, and it's the kind of activity that actually justifies a full morning or afternoon rather than a quick tick-box stop. Adults often surprise themselves by how engaging it is.

Carlingford itself sits just across the water from Warrenpoint, and the whole area punches above its weight for a few hours' diversion. If you're staying at Kilbroney Caravan Park or Sandilands, both excellent bases in the Mourne foothills, the Skypark makes for a brilliant contrast to coastal walks and village pottering. Chestnutt and Cranfield are also within easy reach if you're camping near Newry.

Bring layers - even on mild days, you'll warm up quickly on the course, and the Irish weather can turn brisk at height. It's not cheap, but it's genuinely good fun, and the views down Carlingford Lough from up there are a genuine bonus rather than the main event.
