It's the sort of place that appeals most to architecture enthusiasts and anyone with a genuine interest in medieval ecclesiastical buildings rather than casual visitors chasing Instagram shots. The interior has some nice period features, and if you've got a weakness for local history, the gravestones and memorials tell their own stories about who lived and died in these parts.

Unfortunately, opening hours and admission details are thin on the ground - your best bet is ringing ahead or checking the church notice board when you arrive. Most village churches like this are free to enter during daylight hours, though donations are always appreciated.

If you're based at Northumberland Coast Camp, it's well within striking distance for a morning visit before heading to the beach or exploring Alnwick itself. The castle and gardens there will occupy you for a full day, so Saint Mary's works nicely as a quieter companion activity. Allow thirty minutes to an hour depending on how much you want to linger. It won't blow your mind, but it's absolutely worth the detour if medieval churches are your thing.
