Ancient oaks stretch overhead as you follow the winding paths through this peaceful woodland just outside Warwick. Magdala isn't your typical tourist trail - it's more of a local secret where dog walkers and families come to escape the crowds that flock to Warwick Castle.

The forest feels properly wild in places, with thick undergrowth and fallen logs that kids love scrambling over. You'll spot the occasional red kite circling overhead, and the network of paths means you can easily spend an hour or two exploring without retracing your steps.

Walkers will appreciate the varied terrain - some gentle slopes, a few steeper sections that get the heart pumping, and plenty of clearings perfect for a picnic. It's the sort of place where you might stumble across deer if you're quiet enough.

Families staying at nearby sites like Newlands Caravan Park or Twitey's Camping will find it's a proper breath of fresh air after a day sightseeing in historic Warwick. The lack of entrance fees or opening hours means you can pop in whenever suits - though early morning visits tend to be the most rewarding when the wildlife's most active. Not spectacular enough to plan a whole day around, but well worth an hour's wander if you're in the area.
