It's free, obviously. Allow a couple of hours if you're coming from Moffat town - longer if you're not a regular walker. Admission is uncontrolled, so you can visit any time, though winter weather can make the approach treacherous. The memorial works well as part of a wider walking holiday in the area. Moffat Camping and Caravanning Club Site is barely a mile away and makes a sensible base, with Howslack Farm and Riverside Holiday Park also within easy reach if you fancy staying put for a few days exploring the Southern Uplands. It's the kind of place that sticks with you more than you'd expect - not because it's showy, but because it isn't.
