Llyn yr Wyth-Eidion

Steep wooded slopes frame this tucked-away lake on Anglesey's eastern edge, where the water reflects nothing but sky and the occasional heron picking through the shallows. Llyn yr Wyth-Eidion sits quietly in the countryside near Brynteg, offering the sort of peaceful spot that's become increasingly rare.

Walkers will find the most to enjoy here - there's a footpath that skirts part of the shoreline, though it's not a full circuit. The lake itself is fairly modest in size, so don't expect Windermere-scale drama. Families with young children might find it a bit limited unless they're content with stone-skipping and wildlife watching.

Bird watchers often have better luck here than at busier Anglesey spots. The surrounding woodland provides good cover for smaller species, while the water attracts various waterfowl depending on the season.

Allow an hour or so for a gentle wander, though you could easily stretch it longer if you're in no hurry. There's no admission fee - it's simply there for anyone who makes the effort to find it. The location works well as a quiet interlude if you're staying at one of the several caravan parks within a couple of miles, including Glan Gors or Pen Parc. Not spectacular, but properly restful.
