About Brynteg

Coal dust once settled on these fields before Anglesey's mining days ended, leaving behind a surprisingly tranquil farming community that most visitors drive straight through. Brynteg sits in the island's heart, surrounded by working farmland and ancient wetlands that tell a different story about this corner of Wales.

Cors Goch National Nature Reserve stretches just south of the village - one of Britain's finest alkaline fens where rare orchids bloom in summer and curlews call across the marshes. The North Wales Wildlife Trust section offers excellent boardwalk trails through reed beds where bitterns occasionally boom in winter. It's proper birdwatching country.

Storws Wen Golf Club provides decent links-style golf with views across to Snowdonia on clear days, though the wind can make it a challenging round. Llyn Cadarn, a small lake northwest of the village, attracts local anglers and dog walkers seeking quieter spots away from the coastal crowds.

Getting here means taking the A5025 from Menai Bridge or the A55 junction at Valley - it's about 20 minutes from either. The village itself has little more than a pub and post office, but that's rather the point. Most folk come for the walking and wildlife.

Staying at one of the nearby parks makes perfect sense if you're after peace between coastal expeditions. Anglesey Sea Breeze Park gets consistently good reviews and puts you within easy reach of both Benllech's beaches and the island's quieter inland attractions. You're far enough from the main tourist trails to enjoy proper Welsh countryside, yet close enough to Beaumaris or Holyhead for day trips.
