About Little Hill
What you get for your effort is exactly what you want from a Welsh peak: rolling countryside in all directions, the Radnor Forest to one side, and on a clear day the Black Mountains smudging the southern horizon. It's not dramatic or forbidding, just solid and satisfying.
Families with older children will find it manageable. Younger kids might grind to a halt halfway, but there's no shame in turning back. The terrain is rough in places, so proper boots matter more than the height suggests.
Walkers planning a few days in the area should absolutely slot this in alongside the Radnor Forest trails. Fforest Fields holiday park sits just 2.6 miles away and makes a proper base for exploring the Mid Wales peaks. Presteigne Holiday Park, six miles off, works just as well if you want to be near a market town with actual shops and cafes.
Timing matters. Early morning gives you the clearest views and avoids the weekend crowds if there are any. There's no cafe at the top - bring water and a sandwich. Free to visit, naturally. Allow two to three hours round trip if you're taking photos and stopping for breath.
