Kidstone Hill

Standing at just over 400 metres, this modest Pennine summit offers far better views than you'd expect from such an unassuming hill. The climb from Keighley direction takes about 45 minutes on a clear path, though the final approach gets properly boggy after rain - wellies recommended unless it's been bone dry for weeks.

Walkers will find this a cracking warm-up fell if they're staying at one of the nearby parks like Bronte Country Park or Upwood Holiday Park. The panorama from the top takes in the Worth Valley below and stretches across to Pendle Hill on clear days. Not earth-shattering, but well worth the modest effort.

Families with older children who can manage a decent walk will enjoy this one, though toddlers will struggle with the terrain. There's no visitor centre or facilities - just open moorland and sheep. Allow two hours return from the nearest parking spot.

Honestly, it's more about the walk than the destination here. The hill itself is a grassy lump, but getting there takes you through some lovely Yorkshire Dales fringe country. Perfect for burning off energy if you're camping nearby, though serious fell-baggers might find it a bit tame for a dedicated trip.
