Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path

The coastal path that wraps around Anglesey is one of those walks where you stop caring about the miles because the views keep demanding you pause. This isn't some manicured tourist trail - it's a proper 125-mile circuit of clifftop, beach and moorland that lets you see the island as it actually is, not as a postcard version of itself.

You don't have to do the whole thing. Most people tackle sections, and that's exactly what you should do. The stretch near Holyhead is dramatic - high cliffs with views across to Ireland on a clear day. Other bits are gentler, skirting sandy coves and rocky outcrops. The path winds through villages where you can grab lunch, then back out again to proper wilderness.

This is walker territory. Families with young kids will manage shorter sections, but anyone expecting an easy amble with multiple viewpoint benches will be disappointed. Bring good boots and respect the weather - it changes fast out here. The walk is free and accessible year-round, though winter brings horizontal rain and summer brings midges, so spring and autumn are genuinely better.
