Holyhead Promenade

A long stretch of seafront walkway in Holyhead that's been doing its job for donkey's years, the promenade here is the sort of place where locals actually spend time rather than somewhere that exists purely for tourists. You get views across the Irish Sea, and on a clear day you can see right across to the coast. The walk itself is straightforward - flat, well-maintained, and long enough that you can actually stretch your legs without it becoming a chore.

It's particularly good if you've got dogs or restless kids who need space to burn energy. Walkers will appreciate the uninterrupted route, and there's a genuine seaside atmosphere rather than the manicured feel of some Welsh resorts. The town itself sits at the northwestern tip of Anglesey, so you're genuinely looking out at open water rather than harbour-side restaurants.

Timing-wise, you can knock out the whole walk in an hour or so depending on your pace, though many people just do a section of it. Early morning is cracking - fewer people and the light's better. It's free to wander whenever you fancy. Given the proximity to Coastal Pods and Dronwy Caravan Park, both highly rated, it's a solid addition to a wider Anglesey coastal break. Pair it with the beaches around Holyhead itself or venture slightly inland to other parts of the island. The promenade isn't a destination in itself, but it's proper worth including if you're staying nearby.
