Gwylwyr

The walk up Gwylwyr is a proper workout, but the views across the Llŷn Peninsula and out towards Cardigan Bay make it worthwhile. It's not a massive peak - you're looking at around 300 metres elevation - but the climb is steep enough that you'll feel like you've earned your summit.

On a clear day, you can see for miles. The surrounding hills roll away below you, and if the weather's cooperating, the sea glimpses add real drama to the panorama. The path itself is well-trodden but can be boggy after rain, so decent boots are essential rather than optional.

Walkers will get the most from this. It's the sort of hill that rewards you without requiring technical gear or a full day's commitment - probably 90 minutes up and down depending on your fitness. You could combine it with other walks in the area without much faffing about. Families with older kids who don't mind a scramble will enjoy it; younger ones might find the gradient frustrating.

Pwllheli sits just a few miles away, so you're well-placed for supplies and meals. If you're based at one of the local holiday parks - Gimblet Rock or Gyrn Ddu are both reasonably close - this makes for an excellent morning outing before heading back for lunch. The real appeal here is the walk itself and that coastal outlook rather than any facilities on the summit. Go for the exercise and the views, not for somewhere to linger.
