On a clear day you can see into Wales from the top, which beats most of what the Malvern Hills offer without the crowds. Allow an hour to get up and down at a reasonable pace, longer if you're stopping to soak in the views or you've got younger legs to manage.

This suits walkers far more than casual visitors. Families with proper walking boots will get something out of it; anyone hoping for a visitor centre or a café halfway up will be disappointed. The surrounding area - Ross-on-Wye is the nearest proper town - offers several campsite options if you're basing yourself locally. Burhope Farm and Trippenkennett are within easy reach, though neither has standout reviews. Grove Farm Glamping further out offers something different if you want to base a walking holiday there.

Garway Hill works best as part of a wider borderland walk rather than a destination in itself. The real value is what it teaches you about the topography of the region. Go midweek if you can; weekends can get busy with locals who know what they're doing.
