Cults Hill

Standing at just 172 metres, this modest Fife hilltop delivers views that punch well above its weight. The walk up from Cupar takes about 45 minutes through farmland and woodland, with a proper path most of the way - though it gets a bit muddy after rain. Worth noting that this is actually in Scotland, not England as some maps suggest.

From the summit, you'll get cracking views across the Howe of Fife on a clear day, with the Lomond Hills visible to the west and glimpses of the Forth beyond. It's not dramatic stuff, but there's something quietly satisfying about this unassuming peak. The OS trig point marks the spot, and there's enough space for a picnic if the wind's not too fierce.

Walkers and families with older children will get the most from it - the younger ones might find it a slog for relatively modest rewards. Allow two to three hours for the round trip, including time at the top. Best tackled in decent weather when the views actually materialise.
