Craig Yr Wylfa

The walk up Craig Yr Wylfa isn't long, but it's steep enough to make you feel like you've actually done something when you reach the top. From Borth, this peak commands views across Cardigan Bay that justify the climb - on a clear day you can see for miles across the Ceredigion coastline. The summit itself is modest, the sort of place where you stand catching your breath and realizing why the old Welsh name stuck around.

It's proper walking country rather than a casual stroll. Allow a couple of hours round trip if you're not particularly fit, less if you're used to hills. Craig Yr Wylfa works as a half-day outing from any of the nearby holiday parks - Cambrian Coast Holiday Park and Aber Bay are closest at under three miles away. You can combine it with time on Borth beach itself, which stretches for miles and has proper sand. The peak isn't a destination in itself, but it's the sort of walk that makes a caravan holiday feel less sedentary. Worth doing once you're in the area, not worth planning a trip around unless hiking is your main reason for being in West Wales.
