About Coed Elernion
Walkers will get the most from a visit. There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so come prepared with decent boots if it's been wet. An hour's wander through is realistic, though you could stretch it to ninety minutes if you explore properly. The woodland is free to access, which is refreshing given how many attractions around here charge.
If you're based at one of the nearby campsites - Gyrn Ddu is closest at just over a mile away - this makes for a solid morning walk before heading into Caernarfon proper. It breaks up a park holiday nicely when the weather's decent, and it's the kind of place kids will tolerate without complaining, especially if you make a game of spotting wildlife. Come in spring or autumn when the woodland feels most atmospheric. Summer can feel a bit muggy under all that canopy.
