Bryn Llanengan

The walk up Bryn Llanengan is a proper leg-burner, but the payoff from the summit near Pwllheli makes it worth every sweaty step. You're looking at sweeping views across the Cardigan Bay coastline - on a clear day you can pick out the Snowdonia ridgeline far inland, and the whole Lleyn Peninsula spreads out below like a map someone's unfolded at your feet.

It's not a technical climb by any stretch. The main path is well-worn and obvious, though it does get steep in sections, particularly in the final push. Allow a solid two hours for the round trip if you're taking it at a steady pace, longer if you want to linger at the top with a flask and a sandwich. The views genuinely do improve as you climb - each hundred metres of elevation reveals something new across the bay.

This works brilliantly for walkers after a proper outdoor morning without the full mountaineering commitment of Snowdonia's bigger peaks. Kids old enough to manage a sustained walk will get there without complaint. The summit's rewarding enough that they'll feel like proper adventurers.
