Bleaberry Hill

The walk up Bleaberry Hill takes you through proper fell country just south of Carnforth, with views that stretch across the Lancashire-Yorkshire border if you pick a clear day. It's not a dramatic peak - nothing like the Lake District showstoppers an hour or so north - but that's rather the point. This is quiet walking territory where you won't be queuing for summit photos.

The fell itself is moorland, short grass and heather depending on the season, and the climb is steady rather than steep. Expect maybe an hour up from the road, longer if you're with kids who dawdle over the view. On the summit you get good sightlines across the Morecambe Bay area and south towards Pendle Hill. On a grey day it's a bit underwhelming, truth be told. Choose your weather.

Historically minded walkers will appreciate that you're crossing country with Iron Age settlement history, though there's nothing obvious to see on the ground. Families with decent boots and reasonable fitness will manage the walk fine. It's not a strenuous push, more of a pleasant afternoon leg-stretcher.

Park at the roadside near the start and go at your own pace. No fees, no facilities on the hill itself. Bring water. Go when the forecast looks settled.
