Black Plantation

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured visitor attraction, Black Plantation sits just outside Leek and gives you exactly what it says on the tin - dense forest, quiet paths, and the kind of peace you won't find in the tourist hotspots. The trees are mature conifers mostly, creating that cathedral-like atmosphere where sound just disappears. You'll find a network of walking trails threading through, nothing particularly demanding but enough variation to keep you interested for an hour or so.

It's the sort of place locals use rather than a destination in itself, which is rather refreshing.

If you're based at Rudyard Vale Caravan Park just down the road, you couldn't ask for easier access. Even from the further sites like Leek Camping and Caravanning Club Site or Blackshaw Moor, it's a short drive followed by a proper dose of forest air. The nearby Rudyard Lake offers water-based activities if you want variety, making this a solid pairing for a Staffordshire park holiday. Don't expect drama or instagram moments - just straightforward, honest woodland.
