Bearsted Library

If you're staying at Bearsted Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or one of the glamping spots nearby, the library is a solid rainy-day option just down the road in Maidstone. It's a proper community library - nothing fancy, but genuinely useful if you need to pick up a book, use the internet, or let the kids loose in the children's section for an hour.

The place functions exactly as a local library should. You'll find the usual mix of fiction, non-fiction, DVDs and computers. Staff are friendly enough, and there's enough to keep families occupied on a damp afternoon. Children's books are decent, though don't expect a vast collection - it's a village library serving Bearsted and the surrounding area, not a county resource centre.

What's worth knowing: opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 10am-5pm with a midday closure from 1-2:40pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm only. Closed Wednesdays and Sundays entirely, which is worth checking before you plan a trip. Admission is free, obviously.

Honestly, this is more of a practical stop than a destination. If you're based at Oak View Holiday Park or one of the glamping sites and need to escape bad weather for an hour, it'll do the job. But don't build a day around it. Head into Maidstone proper instead - there's far more to see there. The library's best use is as a quick pit stop when everything outside is grey and wet.
