Bear Claw Brewery

A working brewery tucked into Berwick-upon-Tweed's craft beer scene, Bear Claw pours its own beers straight from the tap room. The space itself is no-frills - exposed brick, proper industrial feel, the kind of place where you can actually see what's going on behind the bar. Their range shifts depending on what's been brewed that week, which keeps regulars coming back.

It's worth a stop if you're into beer and don't mind something unpretentious. Expect to spend an hour or so nursing a pint and chatting with whoever's working - they know what they've made and aren't afraid to talk about it. The Wednesday and Saturday opening hours are a bit limiting if you're planning around a full day out, though Wednesday evenings work well once you've finished exploring the town.

Stay nearby at Berwick Seaview Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite - it's barely a ten-minute walk - or base yourself at Haven Berwick Holiday Centre if you want more facilities. Ord House Country Park is close enough for morning walks before heading into Berwick for a midday pint.

Not a tourist trap destination in itself, but if you're already in Berwick for the castle and the High Street, and you're someone who cares about where your beer comes from, it beats the chain pubs by miles.
